Reviews : Missing power cord
Received the tv yesterday. I went to set it up today, but there wasn't a power cord. My son found an adapter that would bring the power red light on. I called the manufacturer tech support and had to leave a message. I have not gotten a response thus far. We were able to get the red light to come on that shows it has power, but no picture. Also, it seems to be leaning very far forward even when we tightened the screws. My son even took the screws completely out and put them back in thinking that would help. All in all--not a very happy customer so far . This was to be a gift, but I won't be able to give it now. I will update status if I receive anymore news about the product.
12/27/12 12:00 pm Manufacturer called back finally. Will send me adapter for power cord. No apology received. I already bought another tv BEFORE Christmas. I'm not sure whati will do with this one? I will update if the tv works once I receive the missing part.

This was my first venture into the LCD market. I bought it a few years ago and it's has been a good tv with decent picture and audio. Since getting this tv, I have viewed many other LCD tv's and found that the picture on this is not bad compared to higher end tv's. There are some downfalls though. For one thing, if you are viewing the tv at more than a 30 degree angle, the picture becomes blurred and grainy. The color could also be better but for a relatively cheap tv, it's not bad. The one thing that really threw me off was the lack of any audio output. I recently bought a set of wireless headphones so I could listen to the tv at night without bothering others in my family who are trying to sleep. I was shocked and disappointed to find that there is absolutely no audio output. In my opinion, this is a major flaw in the tv. If it weren't for this, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Proscan TV again.

I'm generally satisfied with this TV. The color is good and the picture size can be adjusted to different settings. It has the hdmi (one only), VGA and PC hook ups which make it more useful. The only complaint is the sound. Somewhat tinny and not very loud, even at the highest capacity. It has different settings for sound (trying different modes seemed to make no difference in the volume) and a noise capacity reducer for commercials that isn't very effective sometimes. I'm probably going to hook up speakers to it through the audio as the sound is just really bad sometimes, depending on the show.

I bought this after a 32" Samsung stopped working with certain HDMI sources. I still love Samsung, but after that one mysteriously stopped working I decided I'd try something new. And I'm glad I did. The 52" size is really perfect for my room. It's definitely a large set, but not so large that images feel overly stretched across its surface.

Initially I was very disappointed with the image quality. The issue is that when the light sensor is turned on, the backlight slider can be set to full power, but you're only experiencing a fraction of this set's incredible brightness. Although the brightness sensor seems like a great feature, I found that overall it was too aggressive in reducing brightness, so I have to recommend that it be turned off. Ironically, it works better in well-lit rooms than dark. Once you have full control over the backlighting, this set really shines. The contrast is excellent (my camera has a contrast ratio of 2000:1, and it couldn't capture this TV's...

Delivery: White-glove service was fantastic (on-time, no damage), but then again it would be pretty hard to mess up walking the set 15 feet inside the doorway. Nonetheless, they did great.

PROS:
- Pandora rocks. This is by far my favorite internet feature to stream music through the TV. I don't have a big stereo system and FM reception is spotty, so this really was a welcome feature.

My first HDTV was a Westinghouse, and I was thrilled! It was around 8 years ago, and things have changed quite a bit. Standards are higher and prices are lower. With so many companies trying to get our attention, can Westinghouse still compete in the low end market?

BUILD

My first impression of this TV was, "This is a Westinghouse? It looks fancy." The bezel is nicely understated and pretty thin, and the TV is very slim considering the low price. Compared to the Seiki TV I recently reviewed, this TV looks like it is from the future. It does not look like a $1000+ TV, but it doesn't look cheap.

The USB port can't be used for pictures or movies. It is for firmware updates, if the TV ever needs them, and would most likely be used only by a repair technician. The port does provide the 5V signal if you need it for a peripheral such as a USB Wii sensor bar.

PICTURE

In terms of video quality, this TV is awesome. I can't imagine how the picture could be much better.

There are some minor picture quality issues with off-angle viewing (as the CNET review states), but I think CNET exaggerates the severity -- it's only noticeable to me if I'm far off center.

I haven't yet noticed any blooming effects.

Setting the "judder reduction" to 10 introduces some distortion at times, but a setting of 6 smoothes out motion well without noticeable distortion. However, this varies a bit with different source material. When viewing video files via DLNA that have a lower frame rate, the judder reduction setting can sometimes make things worse. But this is easy to turn off/on by source.

The color level seemed slightly off initially, even with CNET's recommended settings. For example, sometimes a blue sky would look slightly purple (i.e., too much red). But this was easily adjusted in the picture...

I would consider myself a home theater enthusiast (although I am sure owning an 80" might be a give away on that ;) ). I purchased this tv from Walmart in Oct, 2008 for $279. I finally got Dish Network HD installed and was looking forward to watching this tv in HD.

I was very disappointed with how it handles the standard 16x9 aspect ratio. In the 'normal' viewing mode, the screen displayed my HD image in 4x3. Everyone looked skinny and tall. I had to change the viewing mode to 'wide 1' to get the image to go all the way on the sides. However, there were still black bars on the top and bottom. I checked the Dish Network receiver and verified it was outputting a 720p signal at 16x9. I even used the 'info' button on the Vizio remote to verify it was receiving a 720p signal. It was, it just wasn't displaying it correctly.

I contacted Vizio support and they spent quite a bit of time telling me the Dish receiver was setup wrong. I have 2 of these receivers and 2 other HD tv's. I tested the receiver on the other tv's and it displayed correctly, no black bars. Vizio CSR sent...

The good:
Gorgeous appearance. Unusually slim bezel. Very thin. Barely warm when used (very low power consumption). Lots of apps including Vimeo streaming.
Glossy screen to my surprise appeared reasonably dark and without interfering glare even in bright sun lit room.
The bad:
First and major one - absolutely unusable for 3D viewing. Crosstalk is unbearable, totally spoiling 3d immersion. Originally got 3100 glasses. Samsung support told me to get newer, 3300 glasses for this TV. Over hundred bucks later - exactly same issue. I'm convinced that there is no difference, at least for this TV, if 3100 or 3300 glasses are used. For this thing alone this TV does not worth it's price.
Second - uniformity. Very bad on black (light spots), and even mid gray has some problems - one dark blob. (I did not notice any problem on bright white). On black both lower corners are bright to almost unbearable interference with picture. Samsung support told me to hold my conclusion...

In sum, expect the beautiful display to be embarrassingly scarred after an inexcusably short amount of time, and then having to wait weeks for Sony to fix it. Picture looks great until screen fails - and it will. I haven't had the TV longer than 90 days, and a blue vertical stripe has developed running the entire height of the screen. I did some online research and this is a common problem. For the price I paid, and it being the "flagship" of Sony's TVs, this is not acceptable. Worse, the warranty repair won't even be scheduled for at least a week, and then who knows how long it will take before they can actually arrive and fix it (and the Sony phone rep disclosed that it will be another week if they have to order parts). I'm not a techno geek. Just wanted a reasonably priced TV for our bedroom. This one seemed to have all the amenities for a much lower price than most in it's category (such as the Samsung). I read the feedback that the sound wasn't great but thought it couldn't be that bad. Well it is. It sounds like a transistor radio. The speaker faces the back and you cannot adjust for more full sound depth. It sounds like its coming from a tin can. The picture was just okay too. I thought I could add some speakers for around $50 and then be happy with it but the speakers I ordered arrived and they could not be hooked up without an amplifier so I had to return them. All I wanted is decent sound, not asking for super duper theater quality. So it went back today after I received my new Panasonic TV. What a difference. It cost much less and sound is great with a great picture too.

I have this TV and I am very happy with it. It has a very nice, bright, crisp picture. It has TRUE 1080 - be careful when looking at sets. 1366 X 728 pixels is 720P HD. 1920 x 1080 is full 1080i/p HD. Often times sellers give the pixels and then say the TV takes 1080i input - this does not mean it can display all those pixels though! Check the pixels if you want 1080, it should have 1920 x 1080 pixels. It has lots of inputs including 2 HDMI (3 would be nicer but many TVs just come with 1).

Now, this is not the most full-featured model and you may be able to find more features for your money. It does not have picture-in-picture (bummer). The menus are navigable, but sparse and somewhat awkward (but not too bad). The automatic format detection is a bit buggy - it may try to automatically change the aspect ratio during the middle of shows and movies and that can be annoying. You just need to manually set the TV to Widescreen in this case.

I bought this set mainly for the unique feature of wireless connectivity between laptop and TV (no more HDMI cord!) The box and the instructions both said their MediaConnect software works with Mac (OS 10.5 or higher). Mine's 10.6, and it most assuredly does not work. I spent three hours on the phone with a very nice tech support person who finally told me that there must be something wrong with my Powerbook. Of course there isn't. I just love "support" like that! The software says it's finished downloading, but does not open. I wish I could sue Philips in small claims court to get compensated for the wasted time and aggravation. Punitive damages for false advertising would be nice, too! Judging from the other comments, I'm not the only person who believed the lie on the box that their MediaConnect is Mac compatible. Wasting thousands of hours of customers' time through false claims on packaging really should carry some monetary penalty.

I bought this TV from Dell to replace my Toshiba 57" rear-projection (non-DLP) HDTV. The old one was just taking up too much floor space. This beauty has a much smaller footprint, is very light, and the picture is amazing. Streaming from Netflix in HD, playing games on my 360, even over-the-air HD broadcasts look fantastic. Setup was a breeze, and the menus are pretty straightforward. Just keep in mind you're going to have to spend at least $200 more for a stand for this monster. All in all, I couldn't be happier with the new TV. If I had to pick something to complain about, it would be that the only audio out jack is digital coax, so I have to buy a new receiver to run audio to my speakers. The TV speakers work well enough for now, but I definitely want to get back my surround sound. If you want a giant, beautiful HDTV, ready for 3D, and you don't want to spend a fortune on LCD, this is the TV for you.

Very happy. Sharp picture. Easy to use. Not an electronic-phile but I do my homework and was hesitant to buy a Sony. From what I read Sony was living on its laurels. But this TV seems to give great bang for the buck (and my wife wanted a Sony). I do not miss 120HZ or LED. The picture is not blurry when watching sports or action movies to my eye or anyone else in my family (of course all we watch is curling) (just kidding). Picture is bright, too. Easy set-up. It has a pre-set for home (rather than store), which has been fine by all of us. $599 for 40" 1080p. Pretty Sweet.

The quality of the picture on this TV is absolutely amazing. It was simple to hook up and set up right out of the box. It accessed our home wi-fi network very easily and the quality of pictures streamed from Netflix was beautiful. No issues with connectivity at all.

The menu is simple and intuitive to use. Initial set up (where you input your IP address, home address, Netflix information etc) can be a bit annyoing since the remote does not have letter keys but once done there is really no need to have to deal with that again. The only apps I have tried out so far are Netflix and Pandora. The sound quality when playing music is more than adequate for my needs.

While it does not have the 120 Hz that supposedly helps while watching sports we have not noticed any issues with it being 'only' 60 Hz.
